Literary Hub is a compendium of interesting books and writing tips that I like to scroll through as I have my morning coffee.
I liked hearing about what Arundhati Roy has been up to lately – her book, The God of Small Things, written in 1997, was a revelation. Now, twenty years later, she’s written a follow-up called The Ministry of Utmost Happiness. Nice to have her back!
nice I’ll look into this, thank you 🙂
Yes, I think you’ll like it, Krissy! It’s a broad smattering of good literature. Like a virtual bookstore.
Roy’s book reminds me of the Indian arranged marriages written in detail by a fellow blogger I like to visit also:

So good to see u writing on ur blog again, Ruth. Missed ya, Dear! 🌹💖
Thanks, dear heart! I sometimes get side-tracked and forget to post on me ‘umble bloggie. If something comes up like LitHub, it can jog my memory!!
Arranged marriages – fascinating subject to me. It just sounds like something from another century, you know? I can’t believe women put up with it. Mothers encourage daughters to go through with it? Mind-boggling.
I’ve never heard of her. Guess I’ll have to check into her work!
Oh, definitely read “the God of Small Things,” Lady Calen. It’s just beautifully written. The only thing to be aware of is that there’s a couple of really disturbing scenes that almost (but not quite) ruined it for me. But it’s worth the read!
She sounds like a lovely writer, I should read a book of hers. Are the two mentioned here her only books, or does anyone have any other recommendations?
Hi, I’ve only read Roy’s “The God of Small Things,” which was terrific. She wrote some non-fiction books in between, but only these two fiction books. Worth checking out her work!
Thank you!
You’re welcome!
